New details have been released following the passing of veteran actor Robert Carradine, who died on February 23 at the age of 71.
According to official findings from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Carradine’s death has been ruled a suicide.
The actor, widely recognized for his roles in Lizzie McGuire and Revenge of the Nerds, was remembered by family members as both deeply talented and quietly battling mental health challenges.
Family Speaks on His Struggles
In a statement shared with media outlets, Carradine’s family revealed that he had lived with bipolar disorder for nearly two decades. They expressed hope that sharing his story might help reduce stigma surrounding mental illness and encourage more open conversations about mental health.
His brother, actor Keith Carradine, emphasized that there should be no shame attached to bipolar disorder. He described it as an illness that ultimately overwhelmed his brother, while also honoring Robert’s resilience, humor, wisdom, and accepting nature.
A Father Remembered
Carradine’s daughter Ever paid tribute to him on social media, reflecting on growing up with her father and crediting him for shaping her into who she is today. She described him as consistently present and supportive, sharing that his steady influence grounded her childhood.
Robert is also survived by his children Marika and Ian.
Tributes From Co-Stars
Carradine’s passing prompted emotional responses from former colleagues, including Hilary Duff, who worked alongside him on Lizzie McGuire.
