Ongoing Investigation
According to a spokesperson from the Salt Lake City Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible overdose on February 23. Robert Jr. was later found deceased. Officials have stated that the medical examiner is still investigating the exact cause of death.
Two days later, Mary confirmed the devastating news in a public statement, sharing that while her heart is broken, she finds comfort in her faith and in believing her son is now at peace.
A Public Struggle
Robert Jr.’s challenges had previously been documented on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, including his battle with addiction and legal issues.
In December, court records showed he pleaded guilty to several charges related to property damage, violation of a protective order obtained by his estranged wife, and criminal trespass. Following his release from prison earlier this month, Mary publicly expressed her love and support for him as he prepared to move forward with his life.
During the show’s sixth season reunion, Robert Jr. openly discussed his difficulty maintaining sobriety after legal troubles — a moment that brought his mother to tears and highlighted the depth of his struggle.
Remembering Robert Jr.
Mary had previously shared photos of her son during his recovery journey, describing him as beautiful and expressing unwavering love. Fans of the Bravo series watched as she stood by him through some of his most challenging chapters.
As the Cosby family grieves, Mary has asked for prayers and privacy during this time.
