FLORIDA JUDGE WHO JAILED JUROR OVER FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT REDUCES SENTENCING

WEST PALM BEACH, FL -In the past week, Deandre Somerville, was originally sentenced to 10 days in jail, 150 hours of community service, a written apology of at least 100 words, a year of probation and a fine of $233 by Judge John Kastrenakes.

In August, Somerville unfortunately overslept and missed his jury duty, which many could understand to be a terrible misunderstanding and minor offense for a young man with a clean record.

Judge John Kastrenakes shares with the community that jury duty "is serious business deserving of attention, respect, and adherence to their oaths."

An outcry from community leaders and legislators as they want Judge John Kastrenakes to be reassigned for his harsh sentencing and behaviors of misconduct has led him to rescind his previous sentencing for Deandre Somerville.
